Victorian Contract 1

"The Raven" is a poem about a man sitting in his chamber thinking to himself queitly. Soon he starts to hear a tapping at his door. He is startled because he has no visitors and it is a lonely day. Soon he goes to the door to check on the knocking and it is a raven bird. The bird starts talking to him as if he was human and the man is startled. he thinks the raven is the bird of the devil because it just leads the man to believe false things. "The Blessed  Damozel" is about a near perfect woman who seems like she can do no wrong. She is beautiful in every way and has no imperfections. These two poems are completely different. I picture "The Raven" being in a dark and rainey apmosphere. The man and the woman from "The Blessed Damozel" are two completely different people because she is a woman that is not gloomy or sad. She has nothing to be said about. I believe the raven is just a thing of the mans imagination telling him how he really feels, his soul. The woman has everything going for her while the man has nothing going for him. The themes are different because one is about a bird leading a man into thinking wrongly. The woman is lead into doing more perfect things. She learns that beauty is not everything. Both character learn something from a different person or thing.
